Codebook and Data
Our project collects and classifies data from available public documents in order to trace changes in the policy agenda and outputs of a variety of actors and institutions, including public opinion, mass-media, political parties, the parliament, the government. We select documents indicative of the policy priorities and we code them on the basis of their policy content (as well as other relevant information). To date, our datasets cover a period of about three decades.
Likewise all working groups of the Comparative Agendas Project (CAP), we use an adapted version of the coding scheme developed by the US Policy Agendas Project. This makes our data comparable with those of a dozen of countries (with more joining). To visualize the most recent version of the codebook, please click here.
We also drafted a handbook for Italian coders.
We have coded the following documents:
We are currently working on two new datasets:
In the future, we plan to include data on the priorities of public opinion and mass-media.
